You are so nasty if you are thinking something pornographic! Get your minds out of the gutter! But I had to get your attention, right? (subliminal message: preorder my book!) Just wanted to let you know what's going on inside my world.
What's in my CD player:
T.I. - King. T.I. is my favorite rapper right now. He and LL are the only cute ones. (And Meth and Ghostface) But I just like Tip Harris' style. Back in the day I got an email from a "TI" about being in his video, and I'm pretty sure it was the TI, but I didn't follow up because at the time I was getting a lot of bogus "job offers" so Tip holla if ya hear me.
I'm mainly bumpin "What You Know About That" and "Why You Wanna". But I crack up every time I hear "don’t you know I got key by the three when I chirp shawty chirp back Louis nap sack where I hold'n all tha work at what you know about that?" Dude, now I know all about that because you just told me! This is why the fed is buggin people's chirps (hustlers, you do know the po-pos are bugging chirps now, right?). As my boy David would say, (and the heroine in my second novel "Queen of Miami") stop writing your own indictments! Don't be mad at snitches when folks are out there telling on themselves! But I love in "Why You Wanna" when he says "I just wanna ask you one thang...is you happy?" Man I love that. So Atlanta.
Fallout Boy's CD- Y'all know I like ALL music including country and rock. I don't even remember the title of the CD, but they're from the Chi area (Wilmette doesn't really count but since I like them I will say they're from the Chi). When I'm feeling like a rocker chick I play "Dance Dance" or "Sugar We're Going Down."
Mary J. Blige- The Breakthrough. I loves me some Mary. I remember seeing her perform at Jack the Rapper before What's the 411 dropped. I've loved her ever since. Enough Cryin' is my theme song/girl be strong song since I've been having a lil trouble with my guy. And Be Without You is my jam but I heard it too many times.
I'm proud because I bought all three CDs from the store not the bootleg man. Now that I'm an artist I'm really feeling the anti-piracy movement. Royalties feed our families and who the hell wants to work for free?!
What I'm Reading...
Dan Brown - DaVinci Code. I'm reading it slow because I can't get into it. I don't know why because I couldn't put the prequel Angels and Demons down. I don't think Tom Hanks looks like Robert Langdon or at least he doesn't look the way I pictured him. In my mind, he was hotter.
Joel Olsteen- Your Best Life Now. I love Pastor Joel Olsteen and his book is amazing. Very inspiring and motivational. Very easy to apply the concepts to your life. I feel like I'm going to sell a million books and have the best life ever and I highly reccommend this book.
Where I'm Going...
Headed to Washington, D.C for Book Expo America tomorrow. I can't wait because I've never been to D.C. Chocolate City!! Tommy Chong is going to be there and I hope I get to meet him because I love Cheech & Chong movies! My mother keeps rolling her eyes every time I'm like "I might meet Chong!". Queen Latifah will also be there, as will Nikki Turner and Karen Quinones Miller and even Alan Thicke (the dad from Growing Pains). I'm too excited because this is my very first "real" book activity. I feel like a real live author now! It's wild that 10 years ago I stepped into The Rolexxx in Miami determined to make my dreams come true and now they keep coming true. It's been a wild 10 year ride though! I am going to do the damn thang in DC because I do plan on playing a little bit, not just working. And I will try my best not to get drunk and beligerent outside the White House, but I can't make any promises because the proposed immigration policies are pissing me off right now but I'll get into that later. Maybe I'll see Barack Obama! I love him so much. Not in a disrespectful way because I think his wife is incredible, but Obama is a frigging rockstar and I am proud to say that I gave money to his campaign.
So I'm gonna go pack and I'll holler when I get back.
